About the concert

We’re kicking off festival week by turning all of Frydenborgsenteret into a festival area. We’ll put up tents, there’ll be music from this year’s festival artists, and everyone’s invited.

We’ll be selling lapskaus, waffles, beer, and wine. But most of all, we want to create a day filled with music and togetherness for residents, users, family, friends, and other familiar faces. When not everyone can come to us, we’ll come to you. Welcome!

Today’s program

Celebration at Frydenborg 11:00–15:00

There will be five sets of music, and in between you can enjoy food, drinks, and good company. It’s tradition that the musicians from this year’s wind course show up, and they’ll open and close the day.

Artistic Director Tine will of course be there, and she’s bringing star soprano Mari Eriksmoen and Gunnar Flagstad on piano. The string trio Trio Leikínn will perform one set, and KORK concertmaster Oda Holt Günther will play together with Jarle Storløkken.

There will be music that will be performed later during the festival, but also some pieces you can only experience on this day.

Why are we throwing a mini-celebration?

Exclusion and loneliness are big problems in society, and unfortunately this doesn’t get any better, perhaps the opposite, the older you get.

One of the most important parts of this day isn’t just bringing music to residents and users, but also giving family, friends, and loved ones a different kind of day at the center.

Many people aren’t able to attend the concerts in town during festival week, and that also affects the ability of relatives to take part in the Chamber Music Festival. That’s why we’re doing this in collaboration with nearly 30 volunteers.

Coming together around cultural experiences proves, again and again, to be a wonderful remedy against loneliness, and a way to create good memories together. It doesn’t take much, so we’ll do our part.
