Isata Kanneh‑Mason

Piano

One of the most sought-after pianists in the world is returning to Risør. Since Isata last visited us in 2023, her career has simply caught fire.

About the Artist

  • She has something truly important to say musically. She has something to tell.

  • Talent doesn't really get you very far. Talent is mainly an interest, a passion, a curiosity. But the work is 95 per cent.

  • It's not just that she is a born musician with a virtuoso technique. It is her ability to engage your emotions from first note to last.

    Jeremy Nicholas Gramophone

Isata Kanneh-Mason has gone from promising debutante to one of classical music's most sought-after soloists in just a few years. Critics can barely contain themselves.

Isata is the eldest of seven in the almost incomprehensible Kanneh-Mason sibling flock. Brother Sheku was one of last year's big stars, but it's Isata who was first out and paved the way. She remains the family's guiding star. Not least with bold album choices that have brought forgotten composers back into the spotlight. Her debut album featuring Clara Schumann's music from 2019 took her straight to the top of the classical charts.

In 2024, she opened the BBC Proms to a packed Royal Albert Hall. The Guardian described it: 'The virtuosity was unstoppable – notes pouring out like liquid silver.'

For those of you who remember her from 2023, it's time to get excited. For those who somehow have missed her: Now's the time to get ready for a whole week with Isata at the piano in Risør.
