Jan stepped in on short notice last year. Not only did he play exactly as we expected, it turned out he fit our musical project in Risør perfectly. So we asked if he could come back again this year as well.
About the Artist
For those of us enjoying the concerts as audience members, it can be hard to understand how special Risør is for the artists. There aren’t many chamber music festivals like ours, where the artists are gathered for a week, where you play so much different music, with so many new artists, and pieces that aren’t necessarily right at the top of your mind. It’s an intense week, and it demands a special kind of artist.
That’s why Jan is perfect for us. The mix of being a violin virtuoso from one of classical music’s strongholds, Finland, along with Finnish stoic calm and a few years of experience, helps secure both quality and togetherness throughout the week.
